Now I walk every day when I get home from work.
I don't walk long distances, but there is a park in front of my house, so I walk ten times around the field in the park.
One lap is about 200 meters, so I've walked about 2 kilometers.
One day, however, I felt unsettled and lightheaded, so I measured my blood pressure with a blood pressure cuff, and to my surprise, it was 176 on the top. I was already in the category of high blood pressure.
My wife told me to take a walk to see if it might come from lack of exercise.
I decided that I had to do something about it, so I went to the park and walked more and more.
As I walked one lap, two weeks and three weeks, I found myself wanting to walk more and more.
I think I walked 10 laps in the end.
As soon as I got home, I measured my blood pressure with a blood pressure cuff and to my surprise, the top of the cuff went down to 125.
I was amazed at this. I never thought I'd see results this quickly!
It's really amazing how much my blood pressure went down without me taking any medication.
It made me think about how much exercise is necessary.
I've been walking every day since that day.
The title of the book is "Waking High", and I've heard that sports people sometimes wake up to a sense of wanting to exercise more as they use their physical strength, like walking more, running more, swimming more, etc. I've heard that the more you use your physical strength, the more you want to exercise.
I chose this title because it has awakened me to a sense of wanting to walk more.
If you've been thinking that you haven't been getting enough exercise lately, or if you think your blood pressure is a little high, start walking first!
It's not too late to get the rest of your exercise in when you can walk well.
